Client Representation for the Hazelwoood Battery Energy Storage System HBESS Project

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The primary objective of constructing the Hazelwood Battery Energy Storage System, which has a power capacity & energy storage capacity of 150MW and 150MWh respectively, is to strengthen the stability of Victoria’s electrical grid. This particular initiative plays a crucial role in expanding the state’s energy resources and enhancing the reliability of the grid. Additionally, the Hazelwood site offers the advantage of already being a power generation facility and having available transmission capacity of 1,600MW, making it an ideal location for the integration of battery infrastructure.

SCOPE OF WORK

RSGx’s role on the HBESS project was to act as the owners engineer, representing the clients, stakeholders, and project teams on-site. RSGx was also responsible for overseeing the development and construction of the battery energy storage system. This involved monitoring the project’s progress, identifying potential risks or issues and implementing strategies to mitigate or escalate them. They also managed relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure that all project deliverables were met within the agreed-upon timeline and budget.

Another important aspect of RSGx’s role was ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maintaining accurate records of all installation activities. They also managed contractors and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to the client’s policies and procedures, as well as safety and quality standards.
