About the Role
RSGx are currently seeking experienced HV Protection Engineers to join a pioneering pilot project supporting Australia’s renewable energy transition in the Pilbara. Project Scope is until December 2026.
This role forms part of an integrated commissioning team on a first-of-its-kind project. It’s an excellent opportunity to further strengthen your commissioning capability, join an awesome team – while contributing to a project that will stand out on your CV for years to come.
Project overview:
- Integrated commissioning team role supporting shutdown, commissioning, and start-up
- Strong focus on safe, disciplined execution for a major client
- 2/1 roster, 12-hour days
- Day and night shift options (night shift +30% uplift)
- Flights provided from Australian capital cities to Pilbara, WA
Key responsibilities
- Ensure that all discipline regulatory bodies, sites, government, safety, health and environmental procedures and standards are followed Commissioning personnel.
- Development of Protection Relay Config files for all relays across the project.
- Development of Relay logic.
- Development of Interlocking matrices.
- Development of Testing ITR’s and procedures – Including Stability testing procedure.
- Assisting in Development of Commissioning schedule.
- Development of PLC type unit coding for hard wired and soft I/O.
- Bench Testing of Protection Relays.
- Bench Testing of Protection Network with a simulated complete network setup.
About You
- Electrical Engineering Degree.
- Extensive experience of testing Siemens Protection Relays.
- Extensive experience with Omicron test equipment.
- Extensive experience of primary and secondary injection testing.
- Experience with IEC61850 schemes (GOOSE).
- HV and LV switchboard commissioning and testing experience.
- Circuit Breaker, CT, Voltage Transformer (VT), busbar testing experience.
- Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) experience.
- Transformer testing and commissioning experience.
