Senior Project Engineer – High Voltage

The Company:

The Position:
Initially based in Perth for the project planning, the role will transition to site based on a 2:1 roster.  You will be pivotal in the construction of 220KV to 33KV outdoor substations with a 33kV switch room for a greenfield project on a mining lease.

General Duties:

• Assist the Project Manager with various tasks.
• Provide technical and engineering support, including handling Technical Queries (TQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Mentor early career engineers.

Planning Phase:

• Manage procurement tasks such as Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and technical equipment selection.
• Identify long lead times and engage/manage suppliers and subcontractors.
• Set up the QA/QC framework.
• Define construction methodologies and procedures.
• Handle scheduling and planning.

Execution Phase:

• Oversee related QA/QC tasks, including Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Inspection Test Records (ITRs), redline drawings, punch lists, defect closeouts, and Manufacturing Data Reports (MDRs).
• Ensure compliance with client specifications.
• Support the construction team with technical advice.
• Engage vendors for construction and commissioning support.
• Develop testing and commissioning plans in accordance with client specifications and international/Australian standards.

Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience working with mining clients.
• Significant experience in high voltage infrastructure.
• Significant experience in substation construction.
