RSGx hires apprentices

June 15, 2022

RSGx are delighted to announce that we have hired two new electrical apprentices, in Victoria and Queensland.

RSGx proudly encourages females to join the industry across previously male driven trades. Despite an increased focus in recent years, the construction industry has struggled to attract more women. While the number of women entering leadership roles in these industries has steadily increased, there is still significant work to be done to encourage more females into male-dominated roles.

Introducing Prada Byrne and Crystal Jolly

Prada Byrne (pictured above) is an apprentice working out of the RSGx Melbourne office in Notting Hill, supporting a number of projects in the region, including a number of sections of the level crossings removal project, primarily the Greensborough HV signalling scope of work.

Prada joined RSGx in September 2021, to see if electrical trade work was something she was interested in pursuing. RSGx immediately noticed her abilities and attention to detail. Prada has now enrolled as a first-year apprentice and since completing her rail industry worker induction and 3d safety induction has now been given direct exposure to the level crossings projects.

Crystal Jolly at work

Crystal Jolly, a third-year apprentice with RSGx on the Cross River Rail project in Brisbane only recently started with RSGx but has already had a big impact on our team. Crystal has great experience in civil roles prior to her apprenticeship and has two solid years’ experience to go with it.

Crystal, who is also a proud aboriginal woman from the Kamilaroi tribe said:

“I really enjoy the challenge of my apprenticeship and I’m always growing my skill-set through practical experience combined with my studies. It would be great to see more women enter the industry and I think we need to promote the wide variety of roles available in construction within schools. If younger women can see the opportunities that are accessible to them, this would be a positive first step.”

RSGx are delighted to be in a position to support all of our apprentices in their journey.
